As someone who works with clients that struggle with digestive issues, as well as being diagnosed with my fair share of them (IBS-C, SIBO, food sensitivities, etc.) I was BEYOND excited to come across FoodMarble, a company that takes most of the guesswork out of what’s actually causing you digestive distress.
Specifically, FoodMarble uses a small, user-friendly hydrogen breath testing device, which is able to effectively measure how well you digest certain foods based on the amount of hydrogen in your breath (when food isn’t digested fully, the bacteria in your gut break it down, releasing small amounts of hydrogen absorbed into your blood before transferring to your breath via your lungs).
I’d taken breath tests before (it’s necessary in order to diagnose multiple digestive orders, including SIBO, which my results turned up positive for) but the process was such a time-consuming burden (if you’ve ever taken a standard breath test THEN YOU KNOW).
Traditionally, a breath test requires you to maintain a special diet the day prior (chicken, white rice, broth), fast all night and then blow into a tube every 20 minutes for 3 HOURS the next day. It’s one of the easiest, most effective tools I have found on the market today that empowers users to pinpoint and eliminate certain food triggers, without going on some huge elimination diet that’s difficult to maintain.
