7 Healthy Brunch Spots in Seattle

Food Reviews

13 May 2016

Usually I’m all about whipping up brunch- hello gluten-free waffles, strawberry-rhubarb oat bake and creamy quinoa porridge– but sometimes it’s just nice to go out with your squad and have someone else do the work for you (while you enjoy a mimosa or three).

Pancakes with raspberries and nuts

There’s no shortage of tasty brunch spots in the area, however finding restaurants with nutrient-dense nosh that still sounds appealing can be a bit more challenging.

So I went to the liberty of testing out a variety of adorable spots with healthy options that you’re sure to love (and it was REALLY rough, let me tell you). You’re welcome 🙂

If you’re on this new vegan diet like Bey….

A carrot juice and a vegan taco

Check out Jujubeet’s new cafe on Main street. Not only is the spot totes adorbs but the (all vegan) menu is delightful- and much more than you’d expect from a vegan spot with a variety of savory and sweet crepes, hearty veggie and grain bowls, a gluten-free waffle with coconut whipped cream- not to mention fresh and organic juices, smoothies, full espresso and even biodynamic wine.

A dessert in a glass topped with oatmeal and raisins

Don’t leave without ordering: The savory chickpea crepe with roasted squash, sweet potatoes and tahini sauce.

If you’re into the brunch “scene”…..

A grain bowl with salmon, avocado and greens

Tallulah’s won’t disappoint. Not only is the decor on point (can we talk about the huge cat portrait or the tiled floors?!) but so is the crowd- this is one brunch spot to see and be seen. Dinner is also wonderful as well- with lots of seasonal veggie plates to share like the baby artichokes and kale stuffed sweet potatoes.

Don’t leave without ordering: The Seaglass- a brunch cocktail made with vodka, lemon, cucumber, elderflower and dill syrup- clean and refreshing, so you can detox while you retox.

If your favorite motto in the morning is #butfirstjuice….

Granola with vegan yogurt and fruits

Juicebox serves up cold-pressed organic raw juices with two and a half pounds of produce in each bottle (talk about an efficient way to check off that recommended daily fruit and veggie intake)! They also serve up house made soups, salads, scrambles, flatbreads and a dairy-free coconut yogurt parfait that is TDF.

Don’t leave without ordering: Fan favorite turmeric green juice for a delish dose of veggies and the banana cocoa date shake for a take on a healthy milkshake.

If you’re hell-bent on losing those last five pounds before your cousin’s wedding this summer…

On The Wagon Detox Salad at the Bounty Kitchen

With dishes like the “On The Wagon Detox Salad” Bounty Kitchen will help you get there without leaving you feeling deprived. All food is created in-house using organic produce and there’s tons of imaginative veggie options to choose from (try the pickled or fermented add-ons which increase good bacteria in the gut and help you digest better).

The spring veggie hash at Bounty Kitchen

Don’t leave without ordering: The spring veggie hash- this one is loaded with seasonal root veggies and topped with a poached egg because everything is better when you #putaneggonit.

If avocado toast is seriously EVERYTHING:

Avocado Toast at The London Plane

The London Plane got serious avocado toast GAME. Their sourdough loaf is baked fresh in-house daily and smeared with curried avocado, radish, cabbage and fresh herbs. It’s also almost too pretty to eat….almost being the key word in that statement.

Don’t leave without ordering: The avocado toast- DUH! However their trio of seasonal salads on rotation is also pretty amazing.

If Denny’s grand slam is way more your style:

Crepe and omelet at Wayward Cafe

Wayward Cafe has got this one on lock. Their whole menu is a completely vegan take on greasy diner food… and it’s awesome. This one is hands down MLH’s (meat lovin husband’s) fave.

Don’t leave without ordering: The sunshine omelet with avocado, tempeh, vegan cheddar cheese and house-made ranch dressing. Add a side of gluten-free chocolate chip pancakes with “butter” and maple syrup and your hangover will be instantly cured.

When only an acai bowl will suffice:

Acai bowl and avocado toast at Healeo cafe

Then Healeo cafe has you covered. Their antioxidant-rich acai bowl is made super thick and creamy with almond/coconut/hemp milk and protein-rich peanut butter They even have a toppings bar like you’d find at a froyo joint but with healthier options- think coconut shavings, goji berries, bee pollen, etc.

Don’t leave without ordering: The acai bowl- durr.
