Six-Ingredient Superfood Dark Chocolate Pumpkin Fudge Cups

Healthy Recipes

23 November 2016

Lately, I’ve got this new mentality about food and I’m feeling really good about it.

Instead of just taking healthy ingredients and making recipes that taste good, I’ve been finding ways to add superfood ingredients that elevate my health and energy to the next level.

Because this time of year can be so special and fun, but can also be exhausting, stressful and a rough go for our immune system and bodies with all the holiday parties, social engagements, travel and family politics/dynamics.

And let’s be real, most of these functions equate to more alcohol, sweet treats, decadent food, and less time to sleep, practice self-care or sweat it all out.

So our bodies could use some extra love, and one of the simplest way to give ourselves the boost it needs is with…get ready for it…..mushrooms.

YUP. You read that right….MUSHROOMS.

But not just any mushrooms, I’m talking medicinal, adaptogenic mushrooms. I know, it sounds cray but just stay with me here.

Adaptogens are herbal or mushroom formulas that have been used in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. They serve as energizing tonics to help people who are run down, weak or aging. They also increase the capacity of the body to adjust to the stresses of life and promote everything from healthy, glowing skin to a stronger immune system and better hormonal balance (so they’re basically magic).

Although each variety of adaptogen contains their own unique, health-boosting properties they all have one major thing in common- they protect the body from the toxic effects of stress. Which I think if we’re being honest with ourselves we could all probably use some support in that department. Adaptogens deliver just that heavy-duty support by creating a response that help your body naturally resist stress and stressful influences in your life. Think of adaptogens as a way to tone your body and bring it back to homeostasis, much like doing an elimination diet. Only this time you don’t have to eliminate anything, you just get to add more goodness in!

This is why I’m currently obsessed with adaptogens and specifically these mushroom superfood blends by Four Sigmatic– they make it so easy, tasty and affordable to absorb these incredibly powerful foods by blending them into powders that you can toss in just about anything. Like smoothies. Or your coffee. Or dark chocolate pumpkin fudge cups… just saying. It’s basically one of the simplest ways to upgrade your daily habits, which I’m all for.

Now onto the fudge cups.

I think the name Six-ingredient Superfood Dark Chocolate Pumpkin Fudge Cups pretty much sums everything up. I mean they’re obviously delicious. They’re super easy to make (literally 10 minutes) and require no prep or cook time. Just melt all the ingredients together over the stove top, pour into a lined baking pan and pop in the freezer. An hour later…voila!

They’re also a perfect addition to any holiday party and a fabulous way to satisfy your sweet craving without feeling like crap. The individual portion sizes and rich, nutrient-dense flavor make it easy to have just one. Plus they’re just plain cute.

So seriously, get on this train. And don’t forget to add the mushrooms! I promise you it will not alter the flavor in any way, but it will give you and your loved one’s bods that extra TLC and stress adapting boost it needs. Now THAT’s a gift for the holidays!!!

Happy Holidays my loves!
