As a nutrition + hormone health coach, I’m on a mission to help all women balance their hormones in order to feel and look their best, but that’s actually not the end goal.
Rather I firmly believe that when we’re not held back by uncomfortable, embarrassing, painful or debilitating symptoms as a result of hormonal imbalances and conditions, we’re empowered to go out and fully live our best, most vibrant, biggest and beautiful lives (hi, real end goal).
While everyone is different, I know for many women enjoying travel is a big part of living your best life (myself included!). These experiences often bring us so much joy, however they also can leave us feeling less than optimal, oftentimes affecting our digestion (hellooo bloat + puffiness), sleep, skin, immune system, energy levels and mood, and overtime can even contribute to hormonal imbalances and symptoms like pms, weight gain, intestinal permeability (aka leaky gut), food sensitivities, irregular cycles, heavy periods, headaches, etc.
These effects are obviously NOT ideal, especially when many of these trips are moments we want to be looking and feeling our absolute best (aka traveling to a wedding, in a swimsuit on the beach, etc.).
But if you know me, than you know, I firmly believe it’s possible to do both (aka have that wedding cake, and eat it too :)) and my favorite tried and true hormone healthy travel products will empower you to do just that, so you can be fully present for all of these amazing experiences.
Snag all of the details on my absolute fave gut and hormone healthy travel products (including discount codes and more!) below.
As I write this, I’m fresh off a 10-day European getaway/baby moon with my husband, and I can honestly say I consistently used almost every single one of these travel products. It may seem a bit much or high mai to some, but I truly credit the use of these products (along with many other hormone healthy routines and habits I incorporated) to feeling great, empowering me to be present and fully enjoy our vacation, despite being almost 7 months pregnant, jet lag, and eating SO.MUCH. cheese :).
While supplements and products aren’t a silver bullet or magic cure all, my hope is that these recommendations may help offset or mitigate some common travel hindrances while supporting your gut, digestion and hormone health (aka empowering you to feel and look your best while traveling too).
Reducing toxin exposure where you can is key to supporting optimal liver function, which is directly tied to hormonal health. These are my tried and true clean beauty brands I regularly use and take with me when traveling.
While supplements aren’t a silver bullet or magic cure all, I typically find I need extra support when I travel, as I’m typically not getting in as many nutrients or veggies as I would be cooking at home, as well as eating things I normally don’t (heellloo CHEESE). Below are my go-to’s when I travel that help me boost gut and hormone health and alleviate digestive distress.
I keep it pretty simple when I travel, and focus on walking lots to get in movement. Additionally I find a few key fitness finds help me move about with ease.
I don’t mess around when it comes to sleep, and despite changing time zones, jet lag and being 7 months pregnant, found myself acclimating pretty quickly and getting regular zzz’s thanks to this epic sleep kit.
Travel snacks can be a double edged sword, and my top tip is to focus on snacks that help balance blood sugar (keeping hormones happy) and steer clear of nutrient-void snacks that tempt you to eat them, even when you’re not hungry (aka candy, crackers, cookies, etc.). If travel allows I also love bringing fresh produce (apples, carrot sticks, etc), hard boiled eggs and bone broth.
Proper hydration is crucial for optimal hormone health, and we tend to get dehydrated when we travel due to long flights, increased consumption of caffeine and alcoholic beverages, stress and mineral depletion, etc. These are my top tools to stay hydrated when traveling.
I want to emphasize that supporting your hormones and feeling good day in and day out (especially while traveling) is first and foremost about the basic, consistent habits that compound overtime (i.e. moving your body, eating nourishing meals regularly, mitigating stress, getting outside, prioritizing menstrual cycle health, etc.).
That being said, there are always additional tools you can add to your toolkit to up the ante and give your hormones an extra boost, especially when you travel. This post was a roundup of the travel products I recently used and found very supportive, empowering me to look and feel my best while vacationing, but I always encourage you to take what you need into account and do what works best for you!
